It is renowned for its royal cenotaphs, or chhatris, which were built by the Maharajas of Jaisalmer to honor their ancestors. The site was commissioned by Maharawal Jait Singh II in the 16th century and later developed by his son, Lunkaran. The garden features a large tank and dam, known as Jait Sar and Jait Bandh, respectively, which were constructed using solid blocks of stone.
The cenotaphs are made of yellow sandstone and showcase intricate carvings and detailed designs. Bara Bagh offers a serene and picturesque setting, making it a popular spot for visitors to explore the rich history and architectural beauty of Jaisalmer.
