Barah kaman
Bara Kaman is an unfinished mausoleum located in Vijayapura (Bijapur), Karnataka, built by Ali Adil Shah II in 1672. The structure was intended to have twelve arches arranged both vertically and horizontally, but the construction was halted, leaving only two arches completed.
The reason for the incomplete state is believed to be a superstition that the completed mausoleum's shadow would touch the Gol Gumbaz, the tomb of Ali Adil Shah II's father.
Despite its unfinished state, Bara Kaman remains a significant historical site, showcasing the architectural ambitions of the Adil Shahi dynasty. The monument is surrounded by a beautiful garden and houses the tombs of Ali Adil Shah II, his wife Chandi Bibi, and other members of the royal family.
The site is well-maintained and continues to attract visitors interested in the history and architecture of the region.
