Bharuch Fort, also known as Lallubhai Haveli, is a historic fort located on a hilltop overlooking the Narmada River in Bharuch, Gujarat. The fort was constructed in 1791 AD by Lallubhai, an ex-Divan of the former Nawab of Broach, and is well known for its rich wooden carvings and unique architectural style.
Within the fort complex, there are several significant buildings including the Collector’s office, Civil Courts, an old Dutch factory, a church, and the Victoria Clock tower. The fort is closely linked to the Solanki dynasty, with Siddhraj Jaysinh, a prominent ruler, historically connected to the area.
The Bharuch region itself has a rich history as an ancient port and trading center known since ancient times as Bhrigukachha, with strong cultural and economic importance through various historical periods. Nearby, the Jama Masjid, built in the 14th century using materials from an ancient Jain temple, adds to the historical value of the site.
