Bhongir Fort
Bhongir Fort, also known as Bhuvanagiri Fort, is a historic fort located in the town of Bhongir in the Nalgonda district of Telangana. Built in the 12th century by the Western Chalukya ruler Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya VI, the fort is perched atop a massive monolithic rock formation that rises about 500 feet above the ground.
The fort's unique egg-shaped structure, with two main entry points protected by huge rocks, made it nearly impregnable to invaders.
The fort is surrounded by a moat and features an underground chamber, armory, stables, and trap doors. It also has a Hanuman temple and several ponds at the hilltop. Visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding area from the top of the fort. The fort has a rich history, having been ruled by notable figures such as Queen Rudramadevi and her grandson Prataparudra.
