The Chaumukhi Mahadev Temple, also known as Chaturmukhi Mahadev, is a historic Hindu temple located in Vaishali, Bihar. It is believed that the four faces of the Shivling point towards the four directions.
The temple is situated approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) east of Vaishali Gadh and is one of the well-known places to visit in Vaishali. While the exact construction time of the temple is unknown, it is believed to have been built during the 5th century.
According to legend, the temple existed during the Ramayana period, and it is said that Lord Rama, Lakshmana, and Sage Vishwa Mithra visited the temple while on their way to Mithila, the kingdom of Janaka.
