Chhachhrauli Fort, located in Yamunanagar district of Haryana, was the capital fort of the erstwhile princely state of Kalsia. Built in the 18th century by the Raja of Kalsia, the fort complex was sprawling and included a throne room, state treasury, administrative offices, and reception halls.
It features notable architectural elements including murals depicting flowers, birds, royal court scenes, and even European motifs inspired by illustrations from books. The fort served as a center for governance and housed important state functions and meetings. Over time, it also accommodated government offices and schools.
Although the fort is now in a dilapidated state with crumbling walls and fading murals, it remains a significant cultural and historical landmark reflecting the region’s royal past and architectural heritage. The fort is situated about 11 kilometers northeast of Yamunanagar city and is surrounded by agricultural and market areas, emphasizing its historical role as an administrative hub.
