Dali Monastery, also known as Druk Sangag Choling Monastery, is one of the largest and most beautiful monasteries in Darjeeling. Located about 2.5 kilometers from Darjeeling Railway Station, it was built in 1971 by Kyabje Thuksey Rinpoche and later inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1993.
The monastery serves as the headquarters of the Kargyupa sect and is home to around 210 monks who reside and study there. The monastery is perched on a steep hill and is built in the traditional Tibetan architectural style, featuring vibrant colors that depict the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.
Inside, visitors can explore a small library containing books on Buddhism and philosophy. The monastery also has a café offering vegetarian dishes, allowing visitors to enjoy a peaceful meal in a serene environment.
