Elephant Beach

Elephant Beach, located on Havelock Island (also called Swaraj Dweep) in the South Andaman region of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is a pristine and less crowded beach known for its powdery white sand and vibrant coral-rich waters. Named after the elephants once used in timber transport on the island, it offers a tranquil natural setting surrounded by dense tropical forests.

The beach is famous for its excellent snorkeling opportunities, where visitors can see colorful coral reefs, tropical fish like clownfish and parrotfish, and sometimes baby reef sharks in the clear, shallow water. Access to Elephant Beach is mainly by a short 20-minute boat ride from Havelock's jetty or through a roughly 2-kilometer jungle trek from near Radhanagar Beach, with the boat being the more popular option.

Besides snorkeling, the beach provides facilities for other water sports such as jet skiing, sea walking, and glass-bottom boat rides, making it a favored spot for adventure seekers. The best time to visit is between October and May when sea conditions are calm and visibility is ideal. Despite the activities, the beach retains a peaceful atmosphere, especially in the early morning, making it attractive for both relaxation and water-based adventures.
