Elephant Falls
Elephant Falls is one of the most popular waterfalls in Meghalaya, located near Shillong in the East Khasi Hills district. The falls are also known locally as Ka Kshaid Lai Pateng Khohsiew, which translates to "The Three Step Waterfalls". The name "Elephant Falls" was given by the British due to a rock near the falls that resembled an elephant, although the rock was destroyed in an earthquake in 1897.
The waterfall consists of three distinct sections. The first section is a small but picturesque waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. The second section features a larger waterfall plunging into a turquoise pool below, creating a mesmerizing sight.
The third section is the tallest and comes into view suddenly, offering a spectacular view with crystal-clear water cascading over sharp rocks.
