Gadpahra, also known as Old Sagar, is a historic village located about 10 to 12 kilometers north of Sagar city in Madhya Pradesh along the Sagar-Jhansi road. It was once the capital of the Dangi Kingdom and features the ruins of an ancient fort built on a low hill range called Bhainsha.
The fort area includes the remains of a summer palace known as Shish Mahal or Glass Palace, noted for its colorful glass-tiled battlements and dome ribbing. On the hill is a whitewashed temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, a powerful and revered deity here, with devotees climbing around 400 steps to reach the temple. Near the fort lies a small lake called Motital.
The site reflects a rich cultural and historical heritage, with architectural features showing influences from Mughal styles. Gadpahra is a peaceful, spiritual spot that draws visitors for its religious significance, natural surroundings, and remnants of its royal past.
