Gandaulim Fort
Gandaulim Fort, also known as Gaudelupchar Fort, was a military fortress built in the 16th century located on the eastern tip of Ilhas de Goa in North Goa. It was constructed to defend the settlement of São Braz (St. Blaise) and included a chapel dedicated to St. Blaise, which was later elevated to a church in 1563.
Over time, most of the fort fell into ruin, and by the early 21st century, only the entrance gate and some walls remained. The entrance gate was eventually demolished for a road expansion project to improve access to the Gandaulim-Cumbarjua ferry. The fort’s remains mark a part of Goa’s colonial history, reflecting its strategic importance during the Portuguese era.
