Gandhi Maidan, also known as Patna Lawns, is a historic ground located near the banks of the Ganges River in Patna, Bihar. Spread across 60 acres, it was originally used as a golf course and horse racing track during British rule from 1824 to 1833. The ground has significant political and historical importance, as it was the site of several key movements during India's freedom struggle, including the Champaran movement and the Quit India movement of 1942.
Many prominent leaders of the Indian Independence Movement, such as Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad, Anugrah Narayan Sinha, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Maulana Azad, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Jayaprakash Narayan, addressed rallies here. The ground was renamed Gandhi Maidan in 1948 as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi after his assassination.
