Gidara Bugyal

Gidara Bugyal is a high-altitude alpine meadow located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand at around 4,309 meters (14,137 feet) above sea level. It is one of the largest and grandest bugyals (Himalayan meadows) in the region, known for its lush green expanses and panoramic views of prominent Himalayan peaks such as Bandarpunch, Gangotri, and Srikanth.

The trekking route to Gidara Bugyal is moderately difficult, spanning around 33 to 35 kilometers, starting from villages like Bhangeli or Gangnani, and passes through dense oak and rhododendron forests, making it a scenic and immersive experience for trekkers.

The trek offers unique ridge walks and striking views of the Gangotri glaciers, with the chance to witness pristine natural beauty and wildlife. Gidara Bugyal holds cultural significance in the Garhwal region and is less crowded compared to other treks, providing a tranquil environment for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. The best seasons to visit are from May to June and September to November when the weather is pleasant, and snow has either melted or is just starting to appear on the higher slopes.

The area is inaccessible during winter due to heavy snowfall on the trekking routes.
