Tourist Attraction
Golghar
The Golghar, also known as the Gol Ghar, is a large granary located to the west of the Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Bihar. Built in 1786 by Captain John Garstin of the Bengal Engineers, it was part of a plan to prevent famine in the region. The beehive-shaped structure stands 29 meters tall and has a diameter of 32-35 meters.
Visitors can climb to the top of the Golghar via a 145-step spiral staircase, which offers a panoramic view of the city and the Ganges River. Despite its intended purpose, the Golghar has never been filled to its maximum capacity.
