Gomsi Fort, located in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh between Rani Village and Sika Tode, is an ancient archaeological site dating back to the 13th-14th century. It is associated with the Chutia Kingdom, which ruled parts of present-day Assam and Arunachal Pradesh before the rise of the Ahom dynasty.
The fort likely served as a checkpoint to maintain peace in the region and regulate trade exchanges during that period. Excavations at the site have revealed brick structures, pottery, iron spearheads, and a man-made pond called pukhuri, indicating it was a significant settlement. The site covers about 11.5 acres and includes a large brick mound surrounded by a moat that also functioned as a water source.
Gomsi Fort is an important historical landmark managed by the Archaeological Survey of India, reflecting the medieval heritage of the region and the architectural capabilities of the Chutia kings.
