Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka, covers an area of about 866 square kilometers and is one of the largest sanctuaries in the state. It is part of the Anshi Dandeli Tiger Reserve, established in 2006, and also includes the Dandeli Elephant Reserve notified under Project Elephant. The sanctuary is known for its rich biodiversity, housing nearly 270 bird species including the great hornbill and Malabar pied hornbill, along with animals such as tigers, black panthers, sloth bears, Indian elephants, pangolins, dhole, and barking deer.
