Indian Institute of Information Technology, Dharwad (IIIT‑Dharwad), located in Dharwad, Karnataka, is a public‑private‑partnership technical institute established in 2015 under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and later declared an “Institute of National Importance” under the IIIT (PPP) Act, 2017.
It is jointly funded by the Government of India, the Government of Karnataka, and the industry partner KEONICS, and initially operated from a temporary campus in Hubli before moving to its own 60‑acre permanent campus near Tadasinakoppa, about 15 km from Dharwad city.
The institute offers undergraduate programmes such as B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Electronics and Communication Engineering, along with M.Tech and PhD programmes, with admission mainly through JEE Main and GATE.
IIIT‑Dharwad focuses on research‑driven education in information technology, data science, and electronics, supported by modern classrooms, hostels, and labs, aiming to prepare students for careers in core IT, AI, and advanced technology sectors.
