Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (IIIT-Guwahati)

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (IIIT‑Guwahati), located in Kamrup Metropolitan district of Assam, is a public‑private‑partnership engineering institute set up by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and later declared an “Institute of National Importance” under the IIIT (Public‑Private Partnership) Act, 2017.

It was established as part of a nationwide plan to expand high‑quality IT‑focused technical education and is supported jointly by the central government, the Government of Assam, and major industry partners such as Tata Consultancy Services, Oil India, Srei Infrastructure Finance, and Assam Electronics Development Corporation.

The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes, including B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering, along with M.Tech and PhD opportunities, with admissions mainly through national exams like JEE Main and GATE.

IIIT‑Guwahati focuses on cutting‑edge fields such as information technology, artificial intelligence, and electronics, using modern labs, research‑rich teaching, and industry‑aligned projects to prepare students for careers in core IT and advanced technology sectors.
