Jalasangvi Temple
The Jalasangvi Temple, also known as the Iswara Temple, is an ancient temple located in the village of Jalasangvi, near Humnabad in the Bidar district of Karnataka. Built during the reign of the celebrated emperor Vikramaditya VI of the Kalyana Chalukya dynasty, the temple showcases the Kalyani Chalukya style of architecture.
The temple is renowned for its beautiful sculptures, including the Salabhanjika or Madanika figures, which are well-endowed feminine figures in seductive tribhanga poses. These sculptures are considered to be the inspiration for the later Hoysala bracket-figures found in temples like Belur and Halebidu.
The temple also features inscriptions in Sanskrit and Kannada, praising Vikramaditya VI.
