Jarugumalai
Jarugumalai is a hilly region in the Eastern Ghats within Salem district, Tamil Nadu, situated about 3,000 feet above sea level. It comprises two tribal villages, Melur and Keelur, with a combined population of over 1,200 people, governed by the Kuralnatham panchayat.
The area has basic infrastructure including a middle school and a ration shop opened in 2023. Electricity and drinking water are available, but there are no medical facilities yet. A road built in 2021 improved access to the hill region. Jarugumalai is also known for the Kannimar Stream originating nearby, which flows past a local Murugan temple.
