Jayanti

Jayanti is a small forest village located within the Buxa Tiger Reserve in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal, India. It lies along the Jayanti River, which forms a natural border with the Bhutan hills. The village is known for its serene and picturesque environment, abundant wildlife, and lush greenery, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and hikers.

Jayanti is often called the "Queen of Dooars" due to its stunning views and tranquil ambiance. The area also features notable attractions like the Mahakal cave dedicated to Lord Shiva. Although once an old town, Jayanti today appears more like a village slowly fading away amidst vibrant natural surroundings. It is about 30 kilometers from the Alipurduar town and accessible by road through dense forests.

The riverbed, usually dry for most of the year, adds to the scenic beauty with its white pebbles. Visitors often enjoy the soothing sounds of the flowing river and the peacefulness of the forest, making it ideal for a laid-back holiday in nature. Wildlife such as elephants, spotted deer, and peacocks are commonly sighted near Jayanti, and the route to the village through the tiger reserve is itself a fascinating experience.
