The Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary is located in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat, about 45 kilometers from Palanpur. Established in May 1978, the sanctuary covers an area of 180.66 square kilometers and is part of the Aravali ecosystem. It serves as a buffer between the desert areas and the dry deciduous forests in the region.
The sanctuary is home to several rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, including the sloth bear, which is the flagship species of the sanctuary. Other notable species found here include leopards, rhesus macaques, Indian civet cats, porcupines, foxes, striped hyenas, wild boars, and various avian species.
