Jhajjar Bacholi Wildlife Sanctuary, located about 15 km from Anandpur Sahib in Rupnagar district of Punjab, covers around 289 acres, including land from the villages of Jhajjar, Bachauli, and Lamlehri.
This sanctuary, declared in 1998 and legally affirmed in 2003, protects dry deciduous forest habitat with diverse flora such as Khair, Shisham, Neem, Bamboo, and others. It shelters various wildlife including Sambar deer, Barking deer, Hare, Jackal, migratory Leopards, Blue Bull (Nilgai), Mongoose, Jungle Cat, Porcupine, Pangolin, Wild Boar, and a variety of birds and reptiles like Python, Cobra, and Monitor Lizard.
The sanctuary is a tranquil natural area ideal for wildlife observation and nature walks. The Punjab government has plans to develop it into an eco-tourism site featuring the state's first Leopard safari, enhancing its role in conservation and tourism.
