Khalanga War Memorial
The Khalanga War Memorial is a heritage monument located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It is dedicated to the memory of the Gorkha soldiers who fought in the Battle of Nalapani in 1814, the first battle of the Anglo-Nepalese War.
The memorial is unique because it was erected by the victorious British army as a tribute to their adversaries, impressed by the valour of the Gorkhas.
The memorial is situated in Tibbanala Pani on Sahastradhara Road and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Every year, a fair called the Khalanga Mela is held at the site to commemorate the soldiers and celebrate Gorkha culture and history.
