Khanqah-e-Moula
Khanqah-e-Moula, also known as Shah-e-Hamadan Masjid, is a historic Sunni mosque located in the Old City of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
Situated on the right bank of the Jhelum River, between the Fateh Kadal and Zaina Kadal bridges, the mosque was originally built in 1395 CE by Sultan Sikandar in memory of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani, a Persian Sufi saint credited with spreading Islam in Kashmir.
The mosque is considered the first Khanqah (a mosque associated with a specific saint) in the Kashmir valley and is one of the finest examples of Kashmiri wooden architecture, adorned with papier-mâché decorations.
Over the centuries, the structure has been damaged by fires, with major reconstructions carried out in 1493 CE by Sultan Hassan Shah and again in 1731 CE by Abdul Barkat Khan.
