Khirachora Gopinath Temple
The Khirachora Gopinath Temple is a revered Hindu temple located in Remuna, about 9 kilometers from Balasore, Odisha. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here as Gopinath, meaning the divine consort of the Gopis (milkmaids). The temple is famous for its association with the story of Madhavendra Puri, a saint who visited the temple and was blessed by Lord Gopinath.
According to legend, Sri Rama carved the deity Gopinath with his arrow, and Sita worshipped this deity in Chitrakuta. Later, King Langula Narasingha Deva brought the deity from Chitrakuta to Remuna in the 13th century.
The temple is also known for its unique offering of Kshira (sweetened condensed milk), which is believed to have been hidden by Lord Gopinath for Madhavendra Puri.
