Kitam Bird Sanctuary is a beautiful and serene bird sanctuary located in the South Sikkim district, near Namchi. Situated between 1200 feet and 3200 feet above sea level, the sanctuary covers an area of approximately 6 square kilometers and is home to over 200 species of birds. It's a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
The sanctuary is surrounded by lush vegetation, including shrub Sal-chair and pine forests, and is bisected by the Rangit River and Manpur River. Some of the notable bird species you can spot here include the Rufous-necked Hornbill, Chestnut-breasted Partridge, Yellow-vented Warbler, and Grey-crowned Prinia.
