The Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum in Bhopal is dedicated to showcasing the living aspects of tribal life, indigenous knowledge systems, and aesthetics. Located close to the State Museum and the Museum of Man, the Tribal Museum was designed by Revathi Kamath and inaugurated on June 6, 2013, by then-President Pranab Mukherjee.
The museum is divided into six different theme galleries, each highlighting the traditional art, craft, and culture of various tribes of Madhya Pradesh, such as the Gonds, Bhils, Bharias, Sahariya, Korku, Kol, and Baiga.
Visitors to the museum can explore exhibits that depict traditional houses made of natural materials like mud, bamboo, dung, hay, and grass, as well as agricultural tools and earthenware used by these tribes.
The museum also features galleries dedicated to tribal spiritual worlds, children's games, and cultural diversity. The museum offers a unique opportunity to access its exhibits and presentations virtually, with a digital tour categorized into ten parts.
The Tribal Museum is open to visitors from 12:00 noon to 8:00 PM from Tuesday to Sunday, and it provides a rich cultural experience for both Indian and foreign visitors.
