Mahadji Shinde Chhatri is a memorial dedicated to Mahadji Shinde, an 18th-century Maratha military leader who served as the commander-in-chief of the Maratha army under the Peshwas from 1760 to 1780. The Chhatri is located in Wanawadi, Pune, and was constructed in 1965 by one of Mahadji Shinde's descendants, Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia of Gwalior.
The memorial is built in the Anglo-Rajasthani style, featuring elaborate walls, carved ornate pillars, and vibrant decorations.
The complex includes a magnificent Shiva Temple, which was built by Mahadji Shinde himself before his death in 1794. The temple is adorned with beautiful carvings and idols made of yellow stone, and the base of the sanctum is constructed in black stone.
