Makalidurga, also known as Makali Durga, is a hill fort located near the village of Makali in the Bengaluru Rural district of Karnataka. Situated about 60 km north of Bangalore and 10 km after Doddaballapura on the way to Gauribidanur, this fort stands atop a massive granite hillock at an altitude of 1,117 meters.
The fort is known for its historical significance and offers a moderately difficult trekking experience. The trek to the top takes approximately 2-3 hours and provides stunning views of the surrounding hills and lakes. At the summit, you'll find an old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva with a Nandi statue, and according to legend, the sage Markandeya performed penance here.
