The Marth Mariam Cathedral, also known as the Martha Mariyam Big Church, is located in Thrissur City, Kerala. It is the cathedral of the Chaldean Syrian Church of India, which is part of the Assyrian Church of the East.
The church was established in 1814 by Sakthan Thampuran, the Maharaja of Cochin, to accommodate the Chaldaya Suriyani Nasrani (Ancient Indian Christian community) whom he invited to strengthen the trade sector of the new city.
The church is known for its beautiful interior, which features an ancient Syriac cultural model. It is the oldest church in Thrissur Town and is situated in the heart of the city, making it a significant religious and cultural landmark.
The church is also referred to as "Valiya Palli" (Big Church) and continues to be a place of worship and community for the local Christian population.
