The Marthanda Varma Bridge is a twin-bridge located in Aluva, within the Ernakulam district of Kerala. The old bridge, which opened in June 1940, is the second arch bridge in Asia and was built in memory of Marthanda Varma, the ruler of Travancore. The new bridge, constructed parallel to the old one, was opened in June 2002 to accommodate increased traffic.
The bridge spans the Periyar River and is an important landmark in Aluva, playing a significant role in the area's development. It's also featured in many Malayalam films and literary works.
