Munsar Lake, located in Viramgam near Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is a historic water body constructed by Minaldevi, the mother of Jayasimha Siddharaja of the Chaulukya dynasty.
Originally named Mansavor, it later became widely known as Munsar Lake. Built in 1090 CE, the lake is shaped like a conch and features over 300 small and large temples surrounding its perimeter. The temples include shrines dedicated to Krishna and Shiva, with intricate carvings and stone-built structures.
The lake also has a unique water filtration system, where water passes through a stone-lined channel and a three-cylinder tunnel before entering the lake.
