The Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple, is located in Bylakuppe, part of the Mysuru district in Karnataka, near Kodagu (Coorg). It is one of the largest teaching centers of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world.
The monastery is home to a sangha community of over 5,000 monks and nuns, and it offers a range of facilities including a junior high school, a Buddhist philosophy college, a home for the elderly, and a hospital.
The main entrance of the monastery features a four-story tower with Buddhist symbols, and inside, you can find statues of Lord Buddha, Lord Amitayus, and Lord Padmasambhava. Visitors can pray, meditate, and participate in various rituals, such as rotating the mani prayer drums, which is believed to offer the same benefits as chanting "Om Mani Padme Hum".
