Narendra Pokhari
Narendra Pokhari, also known as Narendra Tank, is a large and sacred water tank located in Puri, Odisha. It is considered one of the largest tanks in Odisha and is situated about 1 kilometer from the Jagannath Temple. The tank was built in the 15th century by Narendra Dev, brother of Gajapati Kapilendra Deva, the king of Puri at that time.
The tank covers an area with an island in the middle, where a small temple called Chandana Mandapa is located. The tank is surrounded by 16 ghats (steps leading to the water), providing pilgrims with a place for holy baths.
The tank is especially significant during the Chandan Yatra festival, when the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra are taken to the pond for a ceremonial bath with sandalwood paste.
