New Palace
New Palace in Morbi, Gujarat, is a historic architectural masterpiece built between 1931 and 1944 in the Art Deco style. Commissioned by Mahendrasinhji Lakhdiraji, the palace was designed by Kumar Ramsinh, an architect trained at the Architectural Association in London.
The structure features a distinctive pink plaster exterior with horizontal lines and curved corners, reflecting the elegance of Art Deco design. Inside, the palace boasts a lavish lounge, dining booths, two bars with triple-decker cushioned barstools, a gym, and a swimming pool. The library, adorned with walnut wood paneling and a fireplace, adds to the grandeur of the residence.
The interiors were further enhanced by Polish artist Stefan Norblin, who created large murals and canvases depicting hunting scenes, Hindu deities, and portraits of Mahendrasinhji’s ancestors.
