Padmakshi Temple
Padmakshi Temple, located in Hanamkonda (Warangal), Telangana, is one of the oldest temples in the region. Dedicated to the Hindu goddess Padmakshi (an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi), the temple is also known for its Jain imagery. The site originally had a Shaivite cave temple, and a Jain shrine was established in 1117 CE during the rule of the Kakatiya chief Prola II.
Over time, the Jain shrine was replaced by a Hindu temple. The temple features rich sculptures of Jain Tirthankaras and other Jain gods and goddesses. One of the main attractions is the Annakonda Pillar, a splendid quadrangular column made of black granite stone at the temple's entrance.
