The fort served as the capital of the Rachakonda kingdom and is an example of medieval Hindu fort architecture, constructed using large stones without mortar.
It features strong fortifications, massive gates made of stone pillars, naturally carved water tanks, and several temples dedicated mostly to Lord Shiva, reflecting the cultural and religious significance of the region.
