The Raiganj Bird Sanctuary, also known as Kulik Bird Sanctuary, is located near Raiganj in Uttar Dinajpur (North Dinajpur), West Bengal. It is a haven for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts, offering shelter to almost 164 species of birds. Every year, around 70,000 to 80,000 migratory birds visit the sanctuary, making it one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Asia.
The sanctuary spans an area of 1.30 square kilometers and is connected to the Kulik River through an intricate network of artificial canals. It is home to a variety of resident birds such as flycatchers, kites, owls, woodpeckers, kingfishers, and drongoes, as well as migratory species like egrets, open-bill storks, black-crowned night herons, pond herons, Indian Shag, little cormorants, and Asian Openbill.
