Roy Villa
Roy Villa is a historic four-story building located on Lebong Cart Road in Darjeeling, West Bengal. It holds special significance as the place where Sister Nivedita, a disciple of Swami Vivekananda, passed away on October 13, 1911.
Originally owned by Dwarakanath Roy, the brother of the first Principal of Presidency College, Kolkata, the villa was later rented by scientist Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose due to its pleasant weather and ambiance.
After Sister Nivedita's death, the villa was used by the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute until it shifted to its current location. The building was handed over to the Ramakrishna Mission in 2013 and has since been restored and renamed as the Ramakrishna Mission Nivedita Educational and Cultural Centre.
