Rudrasagar Lake, located in the Melaghar block of Sipahijala district, Tripura, is a natural sedimentation reservoir covering about 5.3 square kilometers. It is fed by three perennial streams and discharges clear water into the Gumati River through the Kachigang channel. The lake has fresh water, depth ranging from 2 to 9 meters, and surrounded by soft sedimentary hillocks.
It experiences high rainfall and supports rich biodiversity, including many migratory and resident birds, making it an important bird area. Rudrasagar is also known for the Neermahal Palace, a unique summer palace blending Hindu and Islamic architectural styles, situated on the lake, which was built in the 1930s by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman. The lake is a Ramsar site recognized for its ecological and cultural significance.
Visitors enjoy boating, bird watching, and scenic views, especially during festivals like the Neermahal Water Festival and boat races that underline its cultural heritage. It is about 52 km from Tripura's capital, Agartala.
