Rukka Dam, also known as Getalsud Dam, is an artificial reservoir located in Ormanjhi, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Constructed across the Subarnarekha River, the dam was opened in 1971 and serves multiple purposes. It provides drinking water to the residents of Ranchi, supports industrial needs, and generates electricity. The dam is a popular picnic spot for locals from Ranchi and Ramgarh District, offering a serene escape with opportunities for small-scale fishing.
The dam is situated on the northeastern edge of the Chota Nagpur Plateau, approximately 35 kilometers from Ranchi and 30 kilometers from Ramgarh. The reservoir has a catchment area of 717 square kilometers and a full reservoir level of 1,954 feet.
