Samba Fort
Samba Fort is located in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir, on a small hillock overlooking the River Basanter. The fort has a rich history, originally erected during the 3rd to 14th centuries. It was later rebuilt by Raja Suchet Singh in 1822, on the remains of the old fort. The fort is strategically located and offers a commanding view of the surrounding area.
The fort has undergone partial restoration, including the outer fort wall and water tank. It is declared a monument under the Ancient Monument Preservation Act 1920. There are plans for further restoration, including converting the dried water tank into a double-storey building complex to house an indoor stadium and district library.
