Sandi Bird Sanctuary
Sandi Bird Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary located in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is situated about 19 kilometers from Hardoi town on the Hardoi-Sandi Road in Sandi.
The sanctuary, also known by its ancient name Dahar Jheel, was established in 1990 to protect the natural habitats and aquatic vegetation for local residents and migratory birds. The sanctuary spans an area of 309 hectares (3.09 square kilometers) and is home to a variety of bird species, especially during the winter months when migratory birds arrive.
The sanctuary is a popular destination for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, with the best time to visit being from December to February. The nearby River Garra, formerly known as Garun Ganga, serves as a resting place for migratory birds before they reach the sanctuary. In the past, the rare Siberian white crane has been spotted here, and there is hope that it may return under suitable conditions.
