Sankey Tank is a beautiful artificial lake located in the western part of Bengaluru, Karnataka, nestled amidst the neighborhoods of Malleshwaram, Vyalikaval, and Sadashivanagar. Constructed in 1882 by Colonel Richard Hieram Sankey of the Madras Sappers Regiment, the tank was originally built to address water supply needs during the Great Famine of 1876–78.
Spread across approximately 37.5 acres, Sankey Tank is now a popular recreational spot. It features a well-maintained walking and jogging track, lush greenery, and a serene environment, making it ideal for morning and evening strolls.
The lake also offers boating activities, including rowboats, pedal boats, and motorboats, managed by the Mayura Sankey Boat Club.
