Shri Balasubrahmanya Swami Temple

The Shri Balasubrahmanya Swami Temple in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu, is also known as the Ayikudi Balasubramanya Swami Temple. It is located in the village of Ayikudi, Tenkasi Taluk, Thirunelveli district. The temple is situated on the banks of the Hanuman Nadi, near the famous Kutralam Falls.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Balasubrahmanya Swami, also known as Rama Subramanya Swami, and is revered for its beautiful small idol of the deity with four hands. The temple also houses an Utsava Moorthy named Muthukumaraswamy, who stands next to a peacock on a Padma Peetam.

The temple has a rich history and is associated with legends from the Ramayana. It is believed that Lord Hanuman created the Hanuman Nadi (river) with the sharp edge of his tail when he was thirsty on his way to Lanka. Lord Rama is said to have rested on the banks of this river.

The temple is known for its unique Kerala-style architecture, which is distinct from traditional Tamil Nadu temple architecture. It is a popular pilgrimage site, especially during festivals like Skanda Shashti, Soora Samharam, Chithirai Vishu, Vaikasi Visakam, Masi Makam, and Thaipoosam.
