Shri Pataleshwar Mahadev Mandir
Shri Pataleshwar Mahadev Mandir is a revered temple in Palanpur, Banaskantha, Gujarat, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is historically significant as the birthplace of Gurjar Solanki king Siddharaj Jaysingh. It was built around 1150 A.D. by Minaldevi, the mother of Siddharaj Jaysingh, after discovering a Shivling deep within the ground while constructing a stepwell.
Due to its depth, the temple was named Pataleshwar Mahadev, meaning "Lord Shiva of the Underworld". The temple is located near Keerti Stambh, in the heart of Palanpur. It remains crowded during the Hindu month of Shravan, when devotees visit to seek blessings. The Shivling is believed to be 100 feet deep, adding to the temple’s mystical aura.
