Sikar Garh Fort, Sikar

Sikar Garh Fort, also known as Devgarh Fort, is a historic fort situated about 10 kilometers from Sikar city in Rajasthan. It was built in 1784 by Rao Raja Devi Singh to secure and oversee the city of Sikar and was constructed on a hill overlooking the area. The fort’s architecture is notable for its beauty and robust defensive features.

During its construction, the neighboring kingdom of Khandela opposed it, even attacking with cannon fire, which temporarily halted the work, but it was eventually completed in 1787 with the help of skilled craftsmen brought from Alwar. The fort was historically used as a prison and played a role in local governance and security.

Its hill height is around 531 feet, and the structure includes several underground tunnels and large water tanks. Despite suffering damage over time, the fort remains an important cultural and historical site reflecting the martial heritage of the region. The fort's walls, gates, and watchtowers were strategically designed to protect the city and house royal families, making it a symbol of Sikar’s historic defense system.
