Singalila National Park

Singalila National Park, located in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, is the highest national park in the state, situated at over 7,000 feet above sea level along the Singalila Ridge. Established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1986 and upgraded to a national park in 1992, it covers an area of about 78.6 square kilometers.

The park is famous for its breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks, including Sandakphu and Phalut, which are the highest points in West Bengal. Known for its rich biodiversity, it is home to rare and exotic species such as the red panda, Himalayan black bear, leopard, and a variety of birds. The park also offers popular trekking routes that attract adventure enthusiasts, especially the trek from Maneybhanjan to Sandakphu and Phalut.

Visitors require permits for entry, and the best time to visit is during the spring and post-monsoon seasons when the weather is pleasant and rhododendron and magnolia flowers bloom. Singalila is a key destination for nature lovers and trekkers due to its unique alpine forests, scenic valleys, and abundant wildlife.
