The Solah Khambha Masjid, also known as the Sixteen-Columned Mosque, is a historic mosque located within the Bidar Fort in Bidar, Karnataka. Built in 1423-1424 CE by Qubil Sultani, Prince Muhammad, the mosque is one of the largest and oldest Islamic structures in Bidar.
The mosque is renowned for its impressive architecture, featuring 16 massive granite pillars that support the roof. The prayer hall is divided into numerous aisles by these columns, creating a spacious and cool environment for worshippers.
The mosque's design includes a majestic dome, intricate lattice-type windows, and a parapet wall adorned with beautiful designs. The eastern façade of the mosque is 94 meters wide and features an arcade of 19 uniform arches. The mosque is also known for its symmetry and the Deccan style of architecture.
